Xie Xie, Ollie

Feeling split between his Chinese heritage and Canadian upbringing, Ollie attempts to learn Mandarin as a means of connecting with his family history. But, as an adult, he discovers that his path to understanding his biracial identity is unexpectedly complicated.

James Michael Chiang is a Chinese-Canadian writer-director based in Toronto, Canada. As a filmmaker, his work shares a dogmatic preference for telling raw, genuine human stories that are visually true to spirit. “Xie Xie, Ollie” is his directorial narrative short debut.
