Mother’s Tongue

Gurleen is learning how to cook from her mother. When the lesson shifts towards being a good cook to service her future husband, Gurleen pushes back. The lesson ends abruptly with an argument. However, after witnessing a loving interaction between a young daughter and her mother, Gurleen reconciles with hers.

Vanesa Millado

Vanesa is a Toronto-based cinematographer of Chinese and Vietnamese descent, with a BFA in Film Production from York University. She speaks fluent English and Cantonese. Her experience in the industry is in both long and short format, throughout the feature, documentary, television, and commercial worlds.
