William Lau

I specialize in bringing family and kids brands to life with captivating storytelling imbued with impactful and cinematic visuals that connect with a broad audience. Whether it’s for toys, comics, or gaming, with my proven skills and expertise we can make your brand stories unique, irresistible and truly unforgettable.
Beginning my extensive animation career on the groundbreaking Reboot, the world’s first CG animated television series, I went on to direct over 18 feature-length animated movies and countless hours of streaming content for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sony, Mattel, Hasbro, eOne, SpinMaster and Skybound Entertainment.
My notable directing credits include helming The Last Kids on Earth for Netflix which won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program and a Leo Award for Best Director; The CG animated series Super Dinosaur, based on the hit comic book by Robert Kirkman which I received a nomination for Best Director at the Canadian Screen Awards and many popular Barbie, Hot Wheels and Max Steel animated features including The Transformers: Beast Machines series that earned an Elan and many Leo nominations for Best Direction.
My love for emotional and visually striking storytelling fuels my passion for exploring new and creative animation expressions by utilizing innovative techniques in classic keyframing and photo-realistic performance capture to move viewers that no other medium can.
