Christopher Yip - Stream River

Christopher Yip (he/him) is a Queer Chinese Canadian writer & director based in Toronto whose works examine love, family, and sexuality through a distinct diasporic lens. He is a participant of the Warner Bros. Discovery Access x Canadian Academy Director’s Program for 2023.

His latest film FISH BOY had its World Premiere at the BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival and was 1 of 8 projects selected for the Frameline Completion Fund. His series Streams Flow From a River, produced by Fae Pictures, had its International Premiere at the Cannes International Series Festival and its Digital World Premiere at the Canadian Film Fest. It is now streaming on Super Channel, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV in Canada.

In 2020, Christopher was named one of Playback Magazine’s 10 to Watch and Reelworld Screen Institute’s Emerging 20. He is represented by Jennifer Irons at META Talent Agency.

Rosie Choo

Rosie is a biracial Chinese Canadian writer, director and actor living on the Occupied Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples (Vancouver, Canada). Her work explores grief, friendship and diasporic identity with a queer feminist lens. 

Her award-winning short film Esther & Sai was funded by the Voices With Impact grant on immigration and mental health, distributed on Air Canada and is currently in series development with the support of the Canada Media Fund and the TIFF Series Accelerator. 

 

Rosie is an alumnus of the VIFF Catalyst Mentorship Program and Reelworld’s E20 Emerging Screenwriters Program, and a member of the Fall 2023 cohort of Women in the Director’s Chair. She is in post-production on her next short film –a dark comedy about a working class Chinese family contending with the predatory nature of the funeral industry – with the support of the National Film Board, BC Arts Council and the Canada Council of the Arts.  A passionate mental healthcare advocate, Rosie also volunteers with Art With Impact as an Advisory Board member. She is fluent in Mandarin and loves thrift stores, libraries and swimming in the ocean.

Winnifred Jong Tokens Season 2 - Canada

Winnifred Jong is an award winning Toronto-based filmmaker. Known for her cinematic style and authentic storytelling, Winnifred is adept at directing comedy, drama and action. She created and directed the comedic short form series, TOKENS, nominated for 8 Canadian Screen Awards (winning Best Direction 2020/2023, and Best Supporting Performance 2023) and was recognized with the 2020 ACTRA Sandi Ross Award.
