Finding Fred Lee

He was the first Chinese-Canadian soldier to volunteer for his country that denied him the vote. He was selected for machine gun duty, and participated in two of Canada’s most epic battles. Then he disappeared without a trace, grave marker, or obituary. He has been forgotten for 100 years.

Jack M Gin

Jack Gin is recognized for achievements in film, business and philanthropy. A 2023 recipient of the BC Community Achievement Award, and a past winner of Canada”s Pacific Region Entrepreneur-of-the-Year award, he is a natural leader and storyteller, and a very busy ”retiree” leading, mentoring, directing and giving across his community.

Festival passes

This year, VAFF 2023 FESTIVAL, screening programs in person and virtual will be organized into various series in order to better highlight the diverse content in our festival.
